EXCLUSIVE: With reports Victoria Police are finally putting together a criminal case against sleazy former Melbourne lord mayor, Robert Doyle, True Crime News Weekly can now reveal that at least one of the complaints involves an underage victim. While other former students of Geelong College are now also preparing a class action against some of their teachers, including the former Liberal Party leader they knew as “Oily Doyley”. Gary Johnston reports.
Pretty much alone amongst media outlets, True Crime News Weekly has consistently reported on the ongoing travails of ex-Melbourne Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle, who was forced to resign from the position last year after a flurry of sexual harassment complaints.
When other news sites apparently lost interest in the story, we continued to probe, identifying a number of documents and first-hand accounts from people with personal experience of Doyle, going back to his time as a schoolteacher at the prestigious Geelong College.
Amongst numerous other comments, Doyle was described to True Crime News Weekly by former students as “a fox in the chicken pen”, “a sleaze bucket” and “a touchy-feely pest”.
As we reported at the time – “highly respected successful people, now in their middle-age, with no axe to grind other than a perfectly reasonable conception that justice should run its course, have provided us with strong, credible information regarding Doyle’s comportment at the school, evidence that, in many cases, they have been in possession of for years”.
Yesterday, a number of Australian newspapers and media have rejuvenated their interest in the Doyle story with information that Victoria Police are currently conducting a live investigation into ‘multiple historical sex crime allegations’.
It is further understood that a class action is also being prepared against past teachers at Geelong College, of whom Doyle is one, with the action believed to be based around the highly questionable behaviour of teachers, as reported by True Crime News Weekly last year.

In order to protect the integrity of the case, it is not possible to go into detail of the class action being prepared by a leading Victorian law firm, but we are currently in possession of a police complaint from an ex-student which has undoubtedly inspired the Victorian Police response.
The ex-student in question, whose identity we will continue to protect by not publishing the actual complaint, has apparently been informed by a senior detective from Melbourne Crime Command that an arrest is imminent.
The latest news comes on top of recent confirmation that Melbourne City Council made a confidential payment to a female employee as a result of Doyle’s conduct when in the mayoral position.

No further details were made public and it is believed to be the first payment made to a council employee as a result of Doyle’s inappropriate behaviour.
There seems little doubt that this story will continue to run and that some form of natural justice may well finally be forthcoming for a number of women with a personal interest and knowledge of Doyle, many of whom have been in contact with True Crime News Weekly.
We will continue to keep our readers updated on the matter and any further consequences visited on the man who, as a schoolteacher in the 1970’s, was known throughout school as ‘Oily Doyley’.
