A young man has been forced to undergo emergency neurosurgery and a skull reconstructure after he was viciously set upon by a gang of teenagers wielding baseball bats on NSW’s Central Coast.
The victim, Kieran Connolly, was set upon by a group of unknown youths armed with baseball bats who hit him in the back of the head.at about 10.30pm on Friday, February 10 at a car park on Ocean Beach Road, Umina Beach.
Mr Connolly, 23, was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney where he underwent emergency surgery to remove clots on his brain after he suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding due to the attack.
Mr Connolly’s brother, Tommy, has made a public appeal to locate and identify his attackers.
“A group of 5 random boys with baseball bats beat my little brothers head in,” Mr Connolly wrote in a Facebook post over the weekend that has been shared over 15,000 times.
“Police will only do so much…. Please share this so hopefully Karma catches up with those boys and they get what they deserve.”
Following the public appeal, one young woman who claimed to have witnessed the incident took to social media to blame the victim for the attack.
“I was there … he shouldn’t have smashed a poor girls [sic] windscreen for absolutely no reason,” the woman wrote on Facebook.
“Not saying he deserves that but he isn’t innocent.”
She has since deleted her comments after she was urged to contact police and provide any information she may have.
