EXCLUSIVE: It can be revealed that the supposed ‘gathering’ held at the Meriton Suites in Waterloo on the first day of Sydney’s Covid lockdown late last month was a wild orgy, with the cavalier sex party a key reason for the growing spread of the dangerous Delta strain of a virus that has now crippled a city. Serkan Ozturk reports.
It was a “gathering” on the first night of Sydney’s now-extending lockdown at the Meriton Suites serviced apartment block in inner-city Waterloo that wasn’t reported to health authorities until well after a week. A “party” that those who attended weren’t all too eager to say they were there. And now it’s a key reason for Sydney’s growing Covid scare that has put an entire city into lockdown, with at least 35 cases linked to the “Waterloo cluster”.
The Meriton Suites building is situated at 30 Danks Street, Waterloo and overlooks leafy Moore Park.
It’s believed at least 10 people attended the “gathering” on Saturday, June 26 at the building.
The get-together was held 24 hours after NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced inner-city suburbs, including Waterloo, would be placed into a lockdown due to the growing spread of the Delta strain of the Covid virus. Just a few hours before the party took place, it was then announced the entire city of Sydney would be placed into lockdown for two weeks. The announcement seemingly did nothing to change the plans of the party-goers.

Of great concern, many of those who attended the “gathering” and were then subsequently struck down with Covid were initially not forthcoming about their attendance at the Meriton Suites, and as such NSW Health was not aware of the gathering until a week or so after it actually took place.
“Please tell us the truth the first time around,” Premier Berejiklian told a press conference on July 10, two weeks after the party took place.
“When people withhold information, it means that their contacts are potentially infectious in the community.
“Eventually our health contact tracers get to the truth so please tell the truth from the first minute.”
The reticence of the partygoers to admit they were at the Meriton Suites building on the night in question set off some alarm bells.
A tip-off sent to True Crime News Weekly suggested that the “gathering” was of the more risque kind, and was for all intents and purposes a wild sex orgy.
Other information provided to True Crime News Weekly suggests the sex party was organised over apps.
Intrigued by these details, True Crime News Weekly then spoke to a long-time resident who lives adjacent to the Meriton building in Waterloo.
The resident said that sex parties – organised by apps or otherwise – were a common sight and sound within the serviced apartments.
“My hunch is that is 100 per cent right,” the Waterloo local said when asked about their views about the neighbourhood gossip.
“That’s all I’ve heard. I don’t know anyone who went to it but it is going to be impossible to confirm.
“It happens all the time, so it’s reasonable to assume it was a sex party.”
True Crime News Weekly is also aware the Meriton Suites is a regular venue for sex workers and their clients while outrageous, drug-fuelled parties were also commonplace before the lockdown, particularly over weekends.
When contacted, NSW Health did not respond to any of our questions about the orgy that has now helped lock down an entire city.
