  1. It is frustrating that most media stories about mental illness often have this reinforcing notion that bad people, like wife killers, are really just mentally ill. And then when someone who is mentally ill commits a violent crime, the public gets the impression that people suffering mental illness are much more violent than others. Most mentally ill people are not violent, and of the ones that are, usually they have not received medical treatment. The family of the man that shot at Ronald Regan when Regan was president had been repeatedly pleading with mental health services to help their son.
    Glad to see in this article a different line than the usual media.
