A former Wagga Wagga high school teacher has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing three male students over a period of six years.

Detectives from the Riverina Police District launched an investigation in July after receiving reports from three students that they were allegedly sexually abused at a school in Wagga Wagga between the years 1984 and 1990.

The three male students were all aged between 14 and 16 at the time of the alleged offences.

Following a two-month investigation, officers arrested a 74-year-old man at a home in Lavington in the state’s south on Thursday, September 2.

He was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with two counts of sexual assault and seven counts of sexual assault of a child under their authority.

The former teacher has been granted conditional bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday, September 20.

In 2014, a then-52-year-old teacher at Wagga Wagga TAFE was charged with 12 counts of assaulting three of his teenage students.
